Dr. Alycia Cooper was born and raised in Stratford, PEI. In high school she began considering Optometry as her future career, as she wanted to have a positive impact on others’ health and found learning about the eyes fascinating. Upon graduating from Charlottetown Rural High School, she completed a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree with a major in Biology and specialization in Life Sciences at the University of Prince Edward Island. She then continued her studies pursuing Optometry at the University of Waterloo and in her fourth year clerkships gained further experience with clinics in Alberta and Nova Scotia. Dr. Cooper completed a Doctor of Optometry Degree with Dean’s Honours List Distinction in 2024. Throughout the Optometry program, Dr. Cooper worked as a summer student with Drs. Hickey, Burke & Associates and following her graduation she was thrilled to move back to Stratford and join Dr. Burke & Associates. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her horse Riley and figure skating.
